Respect Those Who Care (On The Treatment Table In Liverpool)

It’s such a beautiful central idea, the central idea of massage, the idea that without making a cut or adding anything into your body, without giving you a chemical or removing anything or anything like this, but simply through moving you, through manipulating your body, you can bring someone to health. That amazes me still now, every time, it’s just such a wonderful thing. I LOVE it!

BC 300 India. The ancient treatise of  Ayurvedic Medicine. The records, preserved in the original Sanskrit, suggest that massage had long been practised in India, way before recorded history began.

A long history, a proud history. Thousands of years of people holding each other and healing each other. Thousands of years of people caring for each other, helping each other, loving each other.

AD 2016 Liverpool. I walk into The Treatment Table, Sports Massage Liverpool, and receive some of the best sports therapy I’ve ever received.

That’s right! I recently got some great massaging done to my body in Liverpool, just amazing and fantastic. My whole everything felt so much better. That’s the power of massage I guess…

On The Art Of Massage

From The Tomb Of Akmanthor

Massage has a history as long as mankind. As long as there have been humans, there has been human physical discomfort. And as long as there has been human discomfort there has been massage.

BC 2330: In Saqqara, Egypt, the Tomb Of Akmanthor is sealed. Also known as ‘The Tomb of the Physician’ there is depicted on the wall an image of two men having masseuse work done on their feet and hands.

This is a reflection of a beautiful and fundamental aspect of the humanity we share. A lot of how human society has evolved is tied to pain: our reactions to pain, our avoidance of pain, our explanations for pain. But also, our empathy to others in pain our want to develop ways of alleviating pain.

BC 722-481 China, The composition of Huangdi Neijing, the earliest known record of medical knowledge. In this tome, which became the foundation stone for Chinese traditional medicine, massage is referred to in 30 different chapters.

Massage, perhaps more than other medical practices, seem rooted in love and human connection. You are up close and personal with that person and you are reading their body. You are reading their pain, you are reading what makes them ache and hurt and what gives them pleasure and release. It is such a gift to give.

BC 500 T800px-Thai_massagehailand. Jīvaka Komarabhācca, also known as Shivago Komarpaj and know known as ‘Father Doctor’ in Thailand works to codify hi healing system that he apparently used on Buddha himself (whilst Jivaka was working as Buddha’s only physician). His healing system involved reflexology, acupuncture and assisted yoga poses. It is considered the foundation of Thai Massage culture.

BC 460 Greece, Hippocrates: “The physician must be experienced in many things, but assuredly in rubbing”.

It is reading the body, understanding the body, loving the body. That is the Art Of Massage.
